What makes you tick?

What makes you tick?

I’ve always been fascinated by who we are and why we are.

For many years I loved a personality test, a type assessment, a quiz - any way to help me find out who I was and what made me tick.

Most of them were useful in some way - helpful lenses that showed me where I fit in someone else’s framework - but even more useful has been building my own personal understanding, from the inside out.

Are you constantly being interrupted?

Are you constantly being interrupted?

It’s hard to focus when we’re constantly being interrupted.

Notifications, messages, calls, meeting invitations, people popping in for a chat and not realising we’re listening to or working on something.

It’s frustrating - we never get a chance to get into what we need to or want to.

If only there was a way that we could get some quiet focus time…

Oh wait. There are lots of ways!

Could you do with a taste of adventure?

Could you do with a taste of adventure?

We did it! 2 years after applying to be on the television show, my adventure buddy Penny and I completed our race across the world.

Or at least a version of it :-)

It may have been in London, and just for the day, without an intrepid camera crew following us, and yet… I arrived home buzzing with a big smile on my face and in my heart.

It was so much fun, and a brilliant taste of what it would have been like to adventure together. I loved it for so many reasons!

What can you celebrate with a "Well done" list?

What can you celebrate with a "Well done" list?

This post sparked to life in conversation with a brilliant coaching client. There were so many big changes to celebrate when we looked back!

And just as importantly, smaller ones too, which they had decided to capture in a weekly “Well done” list.

I loved this idea SO much!

I know how much it helps to look back - if we don’t pause for perspective, it’s easy to miss our progress - and this sounded like a fun way to do it.

Could you use a restorative pit stop?

Could you use a restorative pit stop?

Last week I spent a chunk of time back in Yorkshire on retreat.

The same venue, another brilliant group of women, another transformative experience to absorb and reflect on.

Usually I drive straight home afterwards, using the 5-hour drive to decompress before returning to my everyday life. This time I pit stopped with a friend for a night.

What a gift!

What helps you keep going?

What helps you keep going?

It’s been over 4 months since I started Couch to 5k and I’ve just completed the final run of Week 4 for the 5th time.

Can you tell it hasn’t gone to plan?

It’s really not been the consistent, steady process I hoped for when running and I started dating again. There have been false starts, frustrating setbacks and ever decreasing motivation.

At the start of the year, I hit a low. What was the point? Was it even worth keeping going when it felt this hard?
