As many of you may know I’m a big fan of decluttering.
Clearing out what’s no longer needed and seeing the wood for the trees gives me a sense of satisfaction and spaciousness - both inside and out.
It’s also practical - I can see and appreciate what I have, and where there may be gaps to fill.
Decluttering has been a theme over the last couple of weeks - coming back from a summer break and seeing things with fresh eyes and renewed energy.
I’ve been clearing out all kinds of things.
Some are more tangible - possessions, digital folders (oh how many screenshots I save!) and my calendar.
Some are more internal - a good cry to release some stuck feelings, some journalling to empty my head and see my thoughts more clearly, and going through the remainder of my dad’s possessions on a FaceTime call with my sister.
We did a lot at the time, but some things have been in a box for a long while. We said some goodbyes, we found a home for others, and we put the rest back for another time - because not everything needs to be processed at once.
And, of course, it’s also shown up in all of those ways in coaching.
What we hold onto - physically, mentally, emotionally - matters.
It’s so helpful to step back and see what we have, what needs to stay and what could go.
Perhaps it’s about decluttering our diary, our to do list, our mental chatter, or simply what’s in our head at the time.
Or perhaps it’s something else.
Whatever it is, there’s a gift in clearing out to create space - inside and out. And in having someone by your side as you do it.
What are you ready to declutter?
What can you let go of?
And what can wait for another time?
Wishing you a week of supportive decluttering,
