Last Wednesday I had an unexpectedly joyful day.
It started out as time to fill while my daughter did work experience, and ended up as the most delicious energy boost.
After arriving I took a stroll in a beautiful Tree Cathedral with our dog.
I then visited a friend who I’ve known for over 30 years, our lives connecting and intersecting at key moments, and a friend of hers who I met more recently. We walked and talked, we ate lunch, we sat and had one of those energising and expansive conversations that leaves you feeling lit up in the best way.
On the journey each way I listened to some thought-provoking podcasts and reflected on the ideas that popped into my mind - the different ones that only surface when there’s some time and space away from the familiar rhythm and routine of life.
Only the day before I had realised that I was longing for a little more joyful adventure in my life, and then it showed up in front of me.
It made me realise that I don’t have to wait for 3 months to take a trip away, or to find time to fit something extra in. I can take something that already exists and make the most of it.
It was a reminder that how we spend just one day can have a wider ripple effect on our life.
What a gift.
Is there something that you would like a little more of in your life?
If you could design a day that would give you a boost of it, what would it look like?
And is there a window of time - even a small one - that you could add a little bit of it to in the meantime?
Wishing you a week of joyful moments,
