It has taken me over 2 years to write this post it!
Over 2 years of feeling a burst of irritation anytime anyone has a wee in our downstairs loo while I’m coaching (it’s the room next door).
Over 2 years of thinking ‘do they not realise I’m coaching?’
Over 2 years of wondering if the sound is audible (!)
And over 2 years of not actually saying anything to anyone in my family…
Until now.
Thank goodness for the topic of clear communication.
It’s come up a lot in coaching conversations over the last few weeks, for me and the people I work with.
The learning has been all about:
Taking the emotion out of the situation to focus on the facts.
Asking for what we want or need - simply, clearly, kindly.
Remembering others can’t read our minds, but can respond to a clear request - with a yes, no or counter offer.
Are you feeling frustrated about something?
And is there a simple request you could make to address it?
Wishing you all a great week,
