I started writing a weekly reflection back in October 2022, and this Reflections blog page started soon after.
The vision to was to create a useful resource, both for me and others. A kind of library - a place to store and structure what I was writing and learning about, for the benefit of me and anyone who wanted to access it.
Except I never put a filing system in, so it became less of a library and more of a disorganised and increasingly large pile!
If only there was a way of grouping and organising them to make them searchable. Ah, Categories and Tags - the things I’d ignored since the start…
In January I decided to make it a Q1 project, and I finally finished last week. The image above is the result – my new filing system, ta da!
There’s a joy of seeing it so simply summarised and colour coded, but the bigger gift has been in what I’ve learned along the way.
The process has shown me:
The topics I work on over and over - for myself and with others.
The areas I love to explore, and what I’m curious about.
The things that I see make the biggest difference to understanding ourselves and others, so we can create the life, work and relationships we want.
It’s also taught me patience.
It has taken longer than I thought it would, and it hasn’t always been a fun process. I’ve moved from confusion to clarity and back again over and over, and there have been times when I’ve questioned why I even started.
It’s helped to remind myself that it’s normal to get stuck, to take it step by step, and take regular breaks.
And to celebrate progress.
Is there anything in your life that would benefit from a filing system?
From the process of getting everything out, seeing what you have, and organising it?
So you can see and appreciate what you have, and know where to find it.
Wishing you all a week of inner organisation,
