I love fitting pieces together to create a picture - in all areas of life.
It’s such a joy to make sense of things and see how they come together, to join the dots, to see the clarity emerge and the wood for the trees.
I know now that taking time at the beginning to sort through the pieces is an important part of the process.
In a puzzle that’s finding the edges, grouping obvious colours, gathering things to build around. And it’s a pretty similar process in other situations too.
I know how useful it is, and I am always, always tempted to skip it, because I’m impatient to get going and want to be onto the satisfying part!
I can find myself desperate randomly looking for pieces to magically appear and slot in…and sometimes it works.
If it’s a relatively straightforward puzzle it’s super easy to see the parts, the patterns and how things fit together.
If it’s not, it takes longer - more patience, more exploration, more taking it piece by piece and understanding that the picture will take time to emerge.
I have to put myself into a different frame of mind. To slow down and embrace the process.
It’s harder, but necessary - for both a better outcome, and less frustration along the way :-)
So, if you’re trying to solve a puzzle in your life - literally, or in a broader sense - have a think about the complexity of it.
Can you dive straight in and find the pieces you need?
Or do you need to spend some time gathering, sorting, and grouping your resources?
Wishing you all a week of embracing the process,
