What restores your energy?

It’s been a big September in our house; we are officially an empty nest! Our youngest has just started university while our eldest is spending their 3rd year studying even further away in Canada.

It’s brilliant, all is well, everyone is settled - and yet… I’m feeling the need for some personal TLC and recovery.

So, I’ve been treating myself to more time in energy restoration mode.

For me that tends to fall into one of 3 buckets:

  • Quality time on my own | Pottering around the house, walking the dog, doing some gentle yoga, a puzzle, a good book, a declutter with my favourite podcast in the background.

  • Quality time 1:1 | A walk and talk with my lovely husband or a good friend, a coaching session, a coaching supervision session, family FaceTime.

  • Restorative changes of scene | I love working from home, and it’s also good to mix it up. Sitting in a favourite cafe and writing or gathering my thoughts, going to an exercise class, visiting friends.

All of these restore my energy in different ways - and they are also relatively easy to build into my day to day, as long as I think a little bit ahead and keep them top of mind.

It’s not forever, but learning from experience (and past mistakes!) means I know it’s worth the investment of time and focus now.

How are your energy levels?

Could you use a little extra personal TLC?

And what would feel restorative for you?

Wishing you a restorative week,
