What would help you feel better?

A close up of a dark blue tube of Vitamin C tablets with an orange lid and sunshine logo - held in front of shelves with books, candles and a yellow toy duck. We now have it in permanent stock at home!

When I was away recently, I hit a low point.

I hadn’t slept well for a few nights and was fed up of being in unfamiliar territory. I was under the weather, longing for some time and space on my own, and feeling very sorry for myself!

I found myself wishing I was back at home so I could take care of myself.

And then I stopped to think. What would I actually do if I was at home right now? What would help me feel better?

So, I wrote a quick list which was very illuminating - and also a little bit annoying.

Because I soon realised that most of the things on the list were available and doable for me right where I was.

And once I gave myself those, the rest followed.

It was astonishing how much better I felt once I had done what I could, and been supported with the rest (some paracetamol and the gift of some delicious Vitamin C).

It reminded me that so often I - and many of us - can feel unable to make changes or get what we need to feel better.

We can find ourselves wishing for things to be different - if only… instead of thinking about what we can do.

And it keeps us stuck.

And yet, we can often change more than we think, and sometimes it’s the smallest things that make the biggest difference.

Are you feeling stuck where you are?

What would help you feel better?

And can you do some of those things right now, and get help with the rest?

Wishing you a week of useful self-reflection,
