There’s a particular joy when you achieve something special.
Perhaps a plan comes together, a long-held goal is realised, or something you hadn’t anticipated springs to life. Or you pause to look back and realise you’re exactly where you hoped you could be.
The sense of achievement can be enormous - and accompanied by a whole range of other emotions. Relief, delight, exhaustion, excitement, joy, sadness that something has come to an end, even though that’s what you wanted!
So it helps to take some time to bask in all of it, to let it wash through and over, to settle into it. To reflect on and notice all of the parts and acknowledge them. To celebrate the moment and the work that went into it before moving on to what comes next.
Which can be surprisingly hard to do!
It’s so easy to get swept up in what needs to happen next - it’s like we’ve unlocked a new level and need to crack on with figuring it out.
Or we contain the celebration and only allocate a small window of joy - we don’t want to brag or get too big for our boots (or any other well used phrase…).
Sometimes others unintentionally diminish the glow (I knew it would be OK!) or raise the bar (Well done, what’s next?!).
Often there’s no one to catch the moment with us, to share in our joy and help us stay in the moment, to help us press pause and amplify the good stuff.
So it can be an enormous gift to have people in our lives that help us do just that.
People who wholeheartedly celebrate our brilliance, who delight in our expansion, who can see just what it’s taken to make something happen and let us know that they see it. Who ask us questions about the process, and the ups and downs along the way. Who remind us of all the small wins that accumulated, and what kept us on track. Who let us marinate in the moment.
The good stuff matters, and it’s worth the time to truly appreciate the warmth and the light, and have other people reflect it back to us too.
Is there a win you would love to celebrate?
To extend the moment and bask in the warmth and light of it?
And who could help you do just that?
Wishing you a wonderful week,
